Standard 100-hour maintenance
Our $199 base labor covers routine, accessible maintenance items common to most modern four-stroke outboards. Exact service items vary by make, model, year, and manufacturer schedule, so we review your engine before confirming the scope.
Included in standard maintenance
- Engine oil and oil filter replacement
- Lower-unit gear lube replacement
- Required drain/fill plug seals or gaskets
- Lubrication of manufacturer-specified service points
- Propeller removal and prop-shaft lubrication
- Inspection of accessible filters, spark plugs, anodes, hoses, wiring, fasteners, and visible components
- Basic cooling-water flow, trim/tilt, starting, idle, and shifting checks when conditions allow
Additional scheduled services
Some engines call for additional maintenance that requires extra labor. These items are quoted separately before work begins.
- Water-pump / impeller replacement
- Thermostat service
- Drive or timing-belt replacement where within our service scope
- Spark plug or anode replacement when required beyond the standard service scope
- Other straightforward external maintenance approved in advance
Services outside our current scope
Internal engine repairs, advanced diagnostics, carburetor or internal fuel-system work, and other procedures requiring substantial internal disassembly are not currently offered.
Clear scope before we start
- We review your engine information and applicable maintenance schedule before confirming service
- Any additional labor or excluded procedure is identified before the appointment whenever possible
- Repairs are not included in the $199 base maintenance labor fee
- Abnormal conditions are shown to you before additional work is performed
- Quality manufacturer-spec or OEM/brand-name parts and fluids are used
- Your completed service is documented for your records
James River Outboard Service performs selected routine and scheduled maintenance services; we do not represent that every manufacturer-scheduled procedure is included in the $199 base labor price or within our current service scope. Service is provided independently and is not performed by or on behalf of an authorized Mercury, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, or other engine-manufacturer dealership. Manufacturer warranty coverage, if any, is governed by the manufacturer's warranty terms.
